What Is Super Lawyers?
Super Lawyers is an attorney rating service by Thomson-Reuters. According to Super Lawyers, the objective is to create a “credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel.”
Lawyers are selected based on a multi-phase, patented process that considers independent research, peer review and professional achievements. During the independent research, each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators, including, but not limited to:
- Verdicts and settlements
- Honors and awards
- Special licenses
- Experience
- Position within law firm
In order to be considered for Super Lawyers Rising Stars, an attorney must additionally be 40 years of age or less, or be in practice 10 years or less.
Up to five percent of the total lawyers in each state are selected as Super Lawyers. No more than two and a half percent are named Rising Stars. You can learn more about Super Lawyers’ selection process here.
